I've spoken with James Berry at the Message Co. I've asked him to give us a breakdown of the costs of the conference so we can know where the money goes.
In addition, I've asked, and he's agreed, to set up a separate account which will be held in 'trust' so that anyone who contributes to the next conference will know that their money will only be used for that conference and not to pay for any loses on this one we just had. In addition, the money will only be used if James does in fact choose to go ahead with the next conference.

Hey Martin,
For my part I would like to know what James wants to see happen, how open is he to new ideas, what is his vision (if any) for this group and the conference, his need for control of direction, etc.
I would like to know what we are doing will make sense for James (and the volunteers[us]) before I totally commit.
As far as I am concerned - the entire thing is open, but I may be the only one to think this. Still, if I am going to approach a donor, I want to be clear about what I am selling.
I hope this sounds reasonable, any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks much for your efforts!!
